CEO & Chairman Jim Walker of Octagon Research Solutions, Inc., a pioneer and leading provider of breakthrough software and services to the life sciences industry, announced that Octagon will be sponsoring and exhibiting at the 2nd Asia-Pacific Clinical Trials Congress sponsored by the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA). This conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Andheri, Mumbai, India, 20-22 November 2008.

Octagon will also host a Pre-Congress Workshop entitled, “eCTD: The Emerging Interface for Pharmaceutical Industry,” which will take place on Thursday, 20 November 2008, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. GMT. Presenters from Octagon include: Jim Walker, Chairman & CEO; Nancy Smerkanich, vice president, Regulatory Affairs; Dan Crawford, Director, Clinical Data Strategies; and Ary Sarkar, Vice President, Global Strategy and Alliances.  During this workshop, the presenters will discuss the evolution of electronic submissions, required technology foundations and process considerations, providing valuable insight from their practical knowledge of emerging global standards such as CDISC and eCTD.

“We are pleased to participate in this year’s Asia-Pacific Clinical Trials Congress,” commented Jim Walker, Chairman & CEO, Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. “We decided to lend our support to this year’s Congress following our meeting with Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Minister of State, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, where we discussed the growing market opportunities in India.   When we decided to launch in Asia-Pacific and started with India, the response from Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies in India was overwhelming. As a result, we have extended our reach in India to support customers in Asia-Pacific and have been awarded many new business engagements by a number of the leading large sponsors in the region.”

“As different regions and countries adopt new standards for electronic submissions, it is critical that they begin with a thorough knowledge of the entire submission process,” stated Mr. Walker. “I am pleased that our team possesses the expertise to assist organizations with the adoption of these standards and we look forward to sharing our practical knowledge gained from the production of over 850 global electronic submissions to date.”

“I am excited to be participating in the Asia-Pacific Clinical Trials Congress,” commented Ary Sarkar, Vice President, Global Strategy and Alliances, Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. “My colleagues and I look forward to meeting with Congress delegates and sharing our global experiences with industry leaders. Our presence at this conference and sponsorship of future workshops in this region continues to accelerate Octagon’s global expansion. It provides us with the opportunity to leverage our expertise in one of the world’s fastest growing markets, extending the scope of our global marketing efforts and providing the foundation for Octagon to more aggressively grow its client base.”
